City of Atwater, California
Structured financing for Siemens solar PV power system
The city of Atwater sought creative solutions to help reduce energy costs associated with a new wastewater treatment plant.
Siemens was able to offer a solution that allows the city to use solar energy to offset some demand from the new wastewater treatment plant.
Utilizing the Siemens Solar Power Purchase Agreement (SPPA) program, Siemens Industry has installed a 1.1 megawatt solar photovoltaic (PV) power system with no upfront costs for the city.
Through the program, SFS funds 100 percent of the project costs.
The new solar PV system has enabled the city of Atwater to purchase electricity under a PPA at a rate lower than its currently pays to its utility without any capital investment.
This innovative project is forecast to save the city more than $1 million during the life of the project.
